Why an MT5-native journal beats a spreadsheet
MetaTrader 5 is the most-used platform on the planet for forex, indices and CFDs, and it is the platform prop firms like FTMO, FundedNext, The5ers, FundingPips and MyFundedFX default to. But MT5's built-in reports are a wall of numbers designed for accountants, not traders. You can't tag setups, you can't attach screenshots, you can't ask 'what happens when I trade after a loss', and you certainly can't do it live between trades.
The typical workaround — export a Deals report to Excel every Friday and manually build a journal — collapses the moment your account gets busy. Two weeks in, you skip a session. A month in, the spreadsheet is out of date. Six months in, you have no idea whether your London-session breakouts are actually profitable or you just remember the winners.
A dedicated MT5 trading journal removes the copy-paste tax. Every filled ticket flows in automatically with entry, exit, size, commissions and swap. You add the parts a spreadsheet can't hold — screenshot, setup tag, emotion, playbook — and the stats build themselves. That is exactly what TradeLogic is built to do.
How TradeLogic connects to MetaTrader 5
You have three ways to get MT5 data into TradeLogic, and you can mix them per account. The right choice depends on whether you want zero-maintenance auto-sync or a one-time import of history.
- Auto-sync via TradeLogicSync EA. Install our lightweight Expert Advisor on your MT5 terminal, paste a personal sync token, and closed trades stream into your journal within seconds. Runs 24/5, no server needed.
- MT5 statement import. Export an HTML statement from MT5 (Account History → Save as Report) and drop it into TradeLogic. Great for backfilling months of history in one shot.
- CSV import. Export Deals as CSV and upload. Our parser auto-detects the MT5 column layout — no manual column mapping.
What you get on top of raw MT5 data
Auto-sync is table stakes. The reason to run a dedicated MT5 trading journal is the layer that sits on top of your tickets — the layer MetaTrader will never build because it is a broker terminal, not a coaching tool.
- Setup and playbook tagging. Assign each trade to a named strategy (e.g. London breakout, NY reversal) so you can measure expectancy per playbook, not just per account.
- Screenshot attachments. Drop chart images from TradingView or MT5 straight onto the trade. Screenshots stay searchable by tag.
- R-multiple and MFE/MAE. Calculated from your stop and target, not just P&L. See how often you left money on the table.
- Session and day-of-week analytics. Break down performance by London / New York / Asia and by weekday to find the hours you should just stop trading.
- Emotion and mistake picker. Log FOMO, revenge, missed SL or overtrading in one tap. Weekly reports surface the pattern that quietly costs you the most.
- AI review of every closed trade. Ask 'was this a real setup or a chase' and get a plain-English answer using your own rules and history.
MT5 + prop firms: rule tracking on autopilot
Most MT5 accounts today are prop firm accounts, and prop firm rules — Daily Loss, Max Drawdown, minimum trading days, consistency — are where challenges are actually lost. TradeLogic maps the ruleset of 12+ prop firms (FTMO, FundedNext, The5ers, FundingPips, MyFundedFX, E8, FTUK, Topstep, Apex, Alpha Futures, Tradeify, Lucid) to your MT5 account so you see, live, how much room you have left before you breach.
When you get within 20% of a limit the app pings you. Not after the fact in an 'Account Terminated' email — before. If you juggle multiple MT5 accounts (an evaluation, a funded account and your personal live), the multi-account switcher pulls them into one dashboard.
Data ownership and export
Your MT5 history belongs to you. Every trade you sync can be exported as CSV or PDF at any moment. If you decide TradeLogic is not for you, you leave with the full dataset — including the tags, notes and screenshots you added. No lock-in, no 'contact sales to export'. For traders in Poland, we also produce a PIT-38-ready report from your MT5 fills.
How it works
- 1
Create a free account
Email + password. No card, no trial timer. You are ready to import in under a minute.
- 2
Connect MT5
Install the TradeLogicSync EA (60 seconds) or drop an MT5 statement / CSV. Historical trades appear immediately, new fills stream live.

Create free accountFrequently asked questions
Does the TradeLogicSync EA work on any MT5 broker?
Yes. The EA runs inside your MT5 terminal and pushes closed deals to our API using your personal sync token. It does not need broker permission — it uses standard MT5 EA capabilities available on every account type (demo, live, funded).
Will it sync historical trades or only new ones?
Both. On first install the EA backfills your recent history (default: last 3 months, configurable), and then streams new closed deals as they happen. For longer history, upload an MT5 HTML statement.
Is my MT5 login safe? Do you need my broker password?
No. We never ask for your MT5 login or investor password. The EA runs locally on your terminal and only sends trade data (symbol, price, size, P&L) to your account via a token you control and can revoke at any time.
Does it work with FTMO, FundedNext and other prop firms?
Yes. Prop firm MT5 accounts are the primary use case. TradeLogic ships with rulesets for FTMO, FundedNext, The5ers, FundingPips, MyFundedFX, E8, FTUK, Topstep, Apex, Alpha Futures, Tradeify and Lucid, and the rule tracker updates live as trades sync.
Can I use it alongside MT4?
Yes. We ship an MT4 version of the sync EA too. Some traders keep legacy MT4 EAs while running new challenges on MT5 — both feed the same journal.
How much does it cost vs TradeZella / TraderSync?
PRO is $4.99/month (or 19.99 PLN). TradeZella is $39/month and TraderSync starts at $29/month. Free plan is available forever if you want to try the MT5 sync before paying.
What happens if I stop paying?
Your data stays. You drop back to the free tier — you keep read access to your history and can export CSV/PDF any time. Nothing is deleted.
